A few weeks ago, the Figure.AI team wondered what to do with the dozens of old Figure 02 humanoids that had served their purpose and were now slated for disposal. Figure CEO Brett Adcock asked the internet for advice. And the answer came from a very unexpected source. None other than Arnold Schwarzenegger replied and suggested the only logical course of action: melt down the Terminators.
No sooner said than done! The Figure team got in touch with the Styrian Oak and the actor who played the Terminator and began preparations. These turned out to be more difficult than expected—not so much in terms of how to control the robots, but rather in finding a steel mill willing to melt them down in its own blast furnaces. All the American companies raised concerns that the process might damage their facilities. It wasn’t until a Finnish steel company agreed to participate that things moved forward.
The result is entertaining. Not only does it recreate the scene from *Terminator 2*, but Schwarzenegger himself makes an appearance, delivering one of his most famous lines. But see for yourself!
